Library and Media Services
The Santa Rosa Junior College Libraries cultivate dynamic student-centered learning environments designed to foster student success. We create access to quality resources and instruct students in research skills that extend learning, enhance critical thinking, and inspire intellectual discovery.
ABOUT THE LIBRARIES
There are two libraries in the district, the Doyle Library on the Santa Rosa campus and the Mahoney Library on the Petaluma campus. The Frank P. Doyle Library is located in the heart of the Santa Rosa campus. The four-story, 140,000-square-foot building offers abundant individual and group study space, computers and a host of print and digital resources. The Herold Mahoney Library is located on the Rotary Plaza of the Petaluma campus facing south. The two-story, 35,000-square-foot building houses a dynamic print and digital collection, and abundant study spaces and computers. Both libraries offer technology-rich learning commons that provide flexible furniture and spaces for students to study, connect, learn, and create knowledge. The Libraries support the entire spectrum of curriculum offerings.
RESEARCH SUPPORT
The libraries provide thousands of relevant and credible resources of value for academic research projects. These resources include print and online collections that contain books, articles, images, videos and more. Both libraries house a Reserve collection of current textbooks as well as quiet and collaborative study areas. Students can also checkout laptops, iPads and calculators. Library hours can be found at: https://libraries.santarosa.edu/hours.
A librarian is available, online or in-person, to assist students with research and information during all hours that the libraries are open. In addition, librarians teach a 1 unit course called Introduction to Information Literacy, which is an Associate degree requirement for SRJC. Librarians offer scheduled and drop in workshops on research skills, preparing a bibliography/works cited and other specific research tools. Students can also schedule 30-minute, one-on-one research assistance sessions with a librarian for individual support.
